Stop AIDS Societies are groups of students who want to do something about the HIV/AIDS pandemic and believe in the potential and capacity of youth to fight it. Societies are part of the Student Stop AIDS Campaign, an initiative of the Stop AIDS Campaign. The campaign aims to educate and inform young people in order to mobilise their energy and commitment to stop AIDS. Stop AIDS Societies (SAS) were launched at universities across the UK in September 2003 and seek to build a new social movement of young people as the key agents of change. As a movement Student Stop AIDS Societies is a coalition of student-led societies across Universities in the UK affiliated with the national Stop AIDS Campaign and coordinated nationally by SPW.
