Opportunities
There are loads of great green projects going on in all the Hubs. Here's a taster of opportunities to get involved with from across the Student Hubs network:
Bristol Hub: BUST (Bristol University Sustainability Team) is one of the Hub member groups. They do all sorts of great things from bee keeping to food cooperatives and to carbon auditing. They are a non-hierarchical group who use consensus to ensure the group works as a whole to make Bristol a more sustainable university.
Brookes Hub: Brookes university has a great sustainability team. Staff work alongside students to ensure that Brookes university has an overall positive impact on the environment. This is no small task but they're making headway in the areas of transport, infrastructure, recycling, and energy/water conservation.
Cambridge Hub: CUECS (Cambridge University Environmental Consulting Society) is a voluntary organisation with a membership of around 300 graduates and undergraduates. Their goal is to have a positive impact upon environmental problems by helping organisations and individuals (primarily within Cambridge) to alter their practises in cost-effective, efficient and environmentally sound ways.
Oxford Hub: Working with Brookes University and the wider Oxford community Oxford University students have helped create OxGrow - a local, edible garden with its own wind turbine! Meeting weekly with people from all over Oxford the OxGrow team plant fruits and vegetables from around the world and harvest them together.
Southampton Hub: The Green Action group organises trips to local farms, food growing in allotments, and socials to bring together the green community in Southampton University.
Warwick Hub: Warwick University has a very active People & Planet team. They campaign to end world poverty, defend human rights, and protect the environment. They help organise the Go Green Week - this is the biggest student led environment week in the UK.
