Have you recently returned from a volunteering placement abroad? Do you want to share your experience with other students, organisations and sector leaders? If so, the Impact International team would love to hear from you.
Today we’re launching our 2015 competition, which aims to encourage discussion and debate around international volunteering. We know that students care about creating a sustainable, responsible impact and that those returning from abroad can provide useful insights into the current and future challenges of the sector.
Task
To submit a blog post (up to 500 words) critically reflecting on a recent experience of international volunteering, along with a photo and caption that sum up your time abroad.
Prompt questions:
– Which of your volunteering experiences best illustrates the challenges facing international development?
– Reflecting on your own experiences, what advice would you give to a budding student volunteer hoping to make an impact abroad?
– How has your volunteering experience shaped or altered your view of international development?
Prizes
As well as having their entry featured on the Student Hubs blog, the winner will receive a pair of tickets to the Oxford Forum for International Development (OxFid) – the UK’s highest profile student-led conference on development issues, taking place in February 2016.
On top of this, the winner and 9 runners-up will have their photos exhibited at OxFiD, where they will be on show to hundreds of current students, experts and global decision-makers.

Simply email your blog post, photo and caption to impactinternational@www.studenthubs.org before Friday 20th November 2015.
