We have had two brand new funders come on board recently to support our work at Student Hubs, and we wanted to share an update on how we’re working with them.
Garfield Weston Foundation
We are pleased to welcome Garfield Weston Foundation as one of our new strategic funders for our 2021-22 delivery. Established over 60 years ago in 1958, the Garfield Weston Foundation is a family-founded, grant-making charity which supports causes across the UK and, in the most recent financial year, gave over £99million. Since it was established, it has exceeded donations of more than £1billion, of which well over half has been given in the past ten years.
One of the most respected charitable institutions in the UK, the Weston Family Trustees are descendants of the founder and they take a highly active and hands-on approach.
Known for its transparency, flexibility and straightforward approach, the Foundation supports a broad range of charities from small community organisations to large national institutions. Around 2,000 charities across the UK benefit each year from the Foundation’s grants.
The Garfield Weston Foundation joins the Pears Foundation as our strategic funders for Student Hubs, and their funding will support our national team in delivering impact across our Hub network, and in the development of our new strategy moving ahead into 2022 onwards.
Cognizant
We are pleased to welcome Cognizant as a new corporate partner, who will be working locally with our Bristol Hub in sponsoring their Schools Plus delivery. Through their sponsorship, they will be working with our volunteers and school partners to deliver their STEM Ignite programme with the support and training of Cognizant volunteers.
This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate, facilitate students’ connections to industry, and support local young people engaging with industry and STEM engagement. We have also shared Cognizant’s events for students across our Hub network, bringing brand new engagement with Cognizant’s outreach and employability work and offering new opportunities for students to engage with which supports their industry connections.
