Read about the magic behind the awesome Greyhound event! A must-read!
Hey guys! It’s Mikail 👋, back again with another blog — and this week’s is about something rather special: Greyhound Walking! Yes that’s right, next week the Hub will be holding an amazing event at the Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare Shelter where volunteers will be able to walk retired racing greyhounds — an event brilliantly organised by our Local Action Coordinator Celsey Stephens (cue round of applause 👏👏👏)!
So what is this event all about? Volunteers will be walking the beautiful greyhounds at the Wimbledon Greyhound shelter. These greyhounds are given a forever home after their racing careers are over, and the shelter staff are always looking for volunteers to help out!
For those who love dogs, but don’t want to get too close — not to worry! There are many ways to help out other than walking the greyhounds, including painting, maintenance and cleaning — so there’s definitely something for everyone!
So what motivated Celsey to organise this wonderful event? Well, it was simply a combination of things she’s avidly passionate about: helping the community, animals, and having fun! And using her magic cauldron and a bit of fairy dust (well, by sending a few emails and making a few phone calls), the idea slowly but surely became a fully-fledged project! Seeing as this is Celsey’s first project (wouldn’t be able to tell that seeing how awesome it is): the future is very exciting!
So why should you get involved? Well, do you want to make a difference to your local community, whilst having fun and giving back? Well this event is definitely for you! And as Celsey said very nicely herself — “who wouldn’t want to spend a few hours with these adorable dogs!” It’s an event not to be missed! Hope to see you all there!
