Make a difference through sport!
Southampton Hub have two new exciting opportunities for you to make a difference to a young person’s life in Southampton through sports activities.
We have been funded by Sports England to launch two sports volunteering programmes, with the aim to engage disadvantaged and disengaged 7–15 year olds in sport. The projects’ intended impact is to make young people feel more motivated, confident and able to get active through sport — which will also increase the likelihood of them being active later in life.
So how can you help in achieving that mission? Well, we’re looking for University of Southampton student volunteers to be part of these projects.
Empower for Sport is a 1:1 mentoring project which pairs you with a secondary school student for 6 weeks. During the project you’ll guide your mentee through exercises, take part in various sports and encourage them to use sport to improve their health, wellbeing and enrichment outside of school.
Alternatively, we are running 3 Saturday Branch Up activity days which need volunteers to run sports-based activities. We’re looking for individual volunteers, but we also need groups to run activities during these days too. So if you’re part of a university society which could host an activity, let us know my emailing us.
