#iwill Mentor a Young Person!
It’s #iwillweek, a week dedicated to thinking about how people aged 10–20 can engage in social action in their local communities. It’s also the week Southampton Hub are recruiting for their brand new mentoring project, Empower.
So what is Empower? Empower is a structured 1:1 mentoring project which is taking place in Semester Two. Student volunteers will be paired with a student in a Southampton school and mentor them over six weeks on topics such as goal setting, self-esteem, exam stress and career planning. Students will have full support through the mentoring process from Southampton Hub, and all travel costs will be provided.
Our applications for Empower are open until Friday 24 November, so get your applications in now! You can apply here. Applicants will be invited to a selection workshop and, if selected as an Empower mentor, you will have a training session to prepare you for the mentoring role.
Got any questions about Empower? Email Fiona at manager@southamptonhub.org, or visit our project page for Empower.
If you think Empower isn’t the right project for you, don’t worry — we have plenty of volunteering for you to get involved in! The Hub will be re-opening applications for several of our projects in December, so keep checking our social media and email newsletter The Week for updates. You can also find out more about our amazing social action projects on the Southampton Hub ‘Projects’ page.
Have a great week and if you want to know out more about the #iwill campaign and #iwillweek, go to their website.
