May has been a month of celebrations and new partnerships. Our local hubs have been celebrating the impact and achievements of our incredible student volunteers while our Kingston Hub has launched a new partnership.
Southampton Hub Awards and AGM
This month, Southampton Hub held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) to recruit their new 23/24 Student Committee. Alongside their AGM, Southampton Hub had the chance to celebrate their student volunteers over Hub Awards. Overall, 10 students were awarded in this ceremony. These awards varied from project awards to Values Award to Long-Term Commitment Award. As part of their volunteer celebrations, Southampton Hub also held a BBQ Social this month.
Kingston Hub / Kingston Technology Partnership
We have launched a new partnership between Kingston Hub and Kingston Technology. Kingston Technology will be funding the Give It A Go project at Kingston to provide an additional engagement opportunity for students as corporate volunteers join our events.
In the Spotlight
The spotlight this month is on the Vice Chancellor’s Social Impact Awards (VCSIA). VCSIA is celebrated every year in Cambridge Hub and this year was held on 4th May. This year saw 15 students recognised with awards (4 undergraduate student awards, 5 PHD student awards, 1 master student award, 1 sustainability award, 1 innovation award, 1 global impact award, 1 impact in the local community award, 1 volunteering award), with one special recognition award also handed out at the ceremony. Check out the Cambridge Hub blog to hear more from our winners.
University of Cambridge Vice-Chancellor Dr Anthony Freeling said: “It’s wonderful to present these awards to the students, who have shown such commitment and dedication to social impact. The winners have demonstrated that innovation and perseverance can go a long way in making a positive impact on society. Their accomplishments serve as an inspiration to us all.”
