We have had three brand new partnerships launched recently to support our work at Student Hubs, and we wanted to share an update on how we’re working with them.
University College Birmingham
We are pleased to announce that we are working in partnership with University College Birmingham to deliver a One Community Forum, other associated activities and delivering a research and recommendations report from May to September 2023. To support our delivery in Birmingham this summer, Birmingham Project Officer Mahwish Schwitters, and Birmingham Intern Chandan Varier, have joined our team and will be leading in delivering our One Community Forum and other activities. We are excited to be working in partnership in Birmingham, and to explore opportunities to connect with students, the local community and university staff as part of this work. We will update our blog with this project’s progress as our delivery unfolds this summer.
The UPP Foundation
From 2017 to 2021, Student Hubs worked in strategic partnership with the UPP Foundation to support the delivery of our One Community Forums which enabled students, universities and communities to get together and discuss local issues which could be actively tackled through student volunteering activities and initiatives. Student Hubs facilitated the Forums and continues to deliver them with partners like Leeds Conservatoire and University College Birmingham, and we’re excited to continue our strategic partnership in a new way.
In July we will launch our One Community Forum toolkit in partnership with the UPP Foundation and the Civic University Network, providing the foundations of running this event for universities as part of our mission to mainstream student social action, and follow up activities for universities to use as a resource. Find out more about our virtual launch event, taking place on 17th July at 1pm, and get your free tickets here.
The UPP Foundation is also involved in sponsoring our events this year. They were our headline sponsors in the delivery of the National Societies and Volunteering Awards (NSVAs) which was held in May, and we will be working with the UPP Foundation to explore future partnership opportunities to develop the NSVAs alongside Organised Fun to take them into the next phase of their growth.
The UPP Foundation will also be sponsoring our upcoming Student Hubs Conference due to be held in November. This conference aims to provide a platform for both students and staff to gather, discuss social action, community engagement and student leadership in their universities, and provide exciting workshops, presentations and networking opportunities. During the conference Student Hubs will also be sharing about the direction of our strategy moving forward, including our branding as an organisation. As part of the NSVAs and the Student Hubs Conference, the UPP Foundation has provided a student access fund which students can apply to for funds to ensure they can travel and participate in our events, so cost is not a barrier to opportunity if they have been unable to secure these funds via their university.
Kingston Technology
We are pleased to welcome Kingston Technology as a new corporate partner, who will be working locally with our Kingston Hub in sponsoring their Give It A Go and Empower delivery. Through their sponsorship, Kingston Technology staff will be able to participate in our Give It A Go opportunities alongside students, and support the vital work of our Empower programme in empowering young women in Kingston.
This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate, facilitate students’ connections to local industry, and support local young people engaging with industry and STEM careers.
