We are pleased to publicly launch our Active Citizen Report, which was shared for the first time at our Closure Event in London on 21 November. The week of 18th-22nd November is #iwill Week, and the 2024 theme of #StillWeRise feels very apt as we share the results of our report.
The report shares data and case studies from our legacy closure work, including data from our active citizen survey which was shared with our alumni and in-depth case studies which have been conducted throughout our closure period by Network Director, Sophie Payne.
Within the report, we share how our approach to connection; trust; mindset; skill development; and critical engagement has made the difference in transforming the skills, experiences and perspective of the students, alumni and community groups we worked with throughout our history, with staff and student alumni sharing their perspective on what makes our approach so effective and impactful for the people it reaches.
Highlights from the report include:
- 94% of alumni agreed their time at Student Hubs improved their employability;
- 94% of alumni agreed that their time at Student Hubs helped their confidence in making social change happen;
- 92% of alumni agreed their time at Student Hubs helped their understanding of how to make social change happen;
- 98% of alumni agreed that they can make change in the world.
Alumni Catherine Draper shared:
I think the approach at Student Hubs was always very optimistic in terms of solving society’s greatest challenges. It felt positive, hopeful and innovative in a really big way. That has shaped what I do now because the space that I’m working in is all about innovation and positivity and using business to solve society’s problems. It was that direct outlook on activism and innovation that led me to where I am.
We’re proud to share this report today highlighting the vast impact which we have had on the students, staff and communities we have engaged, and we hope you will join us in celebrating this impact, and furthering our legacy and approach as we wrap up our charitable operations.
To everyone who contributed to our survey, case studies and impact over the years, we thank you for your time, energy, and passion for social action and active citizenship. If you have any questions about the report, please get in touch with Network Director, Sophie Payne at sophie.payne@studenthubs.org.
